My story behind Sound & Vibration Therapy
Updated: Apr 16, 2018
The journey began in July of 2016. I attended the South Dakota Yoga Conference in Deadwood, SD. I went to gain some continuing education credits for my Yoga Teacher Certification. There were many great classes, however, the one that stood out used singing bowls during savasana. A few minutes of listening to the sound was all it took. I was hooked and in LOVE with singing bowls!
A few days later I headed to NM and stopped by a store in Santa Fe, NM. That is where I purchased my first singing bowl. They didn't have any literature on how to use the bowl. I found a book on Amazon named, "How to Heal with Singing Bowls" by Master Teacher Suren Shrestha.
A few weeks later I learned of the Sound and Vibrational School named Atma Buti (Sanskrit word for Soul Medicine) located in Boulder, Colorado. It was founded by the same author of the book I had purchased. There are three levels to complete before you may earn the certification. Of course I enrolled in all three levels and earned my certification in March 2017. Master Teacher Suren teaches the "Himalayan Healing Method."
Master Teacher Suren explained that bells are often found on doors to temples. It is believed that the sound will take your intention/prayers to the divine.
I offer what are called group sound baths or concerts. It is a group experience where sound washes over and through the body while lying comfortably on a yoga mat with the head towards the singing bowls.
I also offer private sessions where the individual is surrounded by a singing bowl family. Bowls are often placed and moved on the body. The element of heat and water are added to the bowls during the private session to enhance the experience.
Even though I have used the same or similar protocols on several individuals, every one has their own unique experience.
Individual experiences vary, however, sound vibration benefits may include one or more of the following: reduce stress, lower blood pressure, reduce pain, improve concentration, harmonize chakras, synchronize brain hemispheres, remove mental or emotional blocks or enhance creativity.
My group sound baths/concerts are scheduled with the New and Full Moons each month. Private Sessions are scheduled upon request. Check out my event calendar or contact me to schedule an appointment.
My singing bowls are from Nepal and made of a special seven metal alloy of gold, silver, iron, mercury, tin, copper, and lead.
Have questions? Drop me a line, I'd love to chat!
If you are interested in learning how to use singing bowls for sound and vibration therapy, I highly recommend attending the certification classes at Atma Buti. They have a separate website which carries singing bowls, prayer malas and other items.
